It is reported that the Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera had noted on his Twitter account that the highest energy demand in recent times was recorded yesterday (19) and 49.53 gigawatts were required for that.
Also, according to this, today (20th) there may be an energy demand exceeding 50 gigawatts, and all the thermal power plants, including the generators of the Hambantota Diesel Plant, will be used to generate electricity.
