About two hours later, the Godakawela OIC went to the protesters in Godakawela town where I was trapped, spoke to them in a very cooperative manner and ended the protest by opening the road and removing all obstacles across the road. As we have been informed, there were hundreds of protests all over Sri Lanka on that day. We have received as many videos and reports as we can believe that there have been more than ten thousand such protests since the 31st of last month. Still receiving. No crime was reported in any other place in Sri Lanka except Rambukkana and the Galle incident was rectified by the police themselves. The police as well as the military must be intelligent. While all this was going on, the Sri Lanka Police had a huge reputation for controlling the protesters on occasion. However, before sending the IGP home, it is imperative that the incident be properly investigated and that the perpetrators be punished. It is no secret that the IGP is also helpless. All he has to do is get all the evidence properly and release it when the opportunity arises. Tests should not be repeated or suppressed, as in the case of Easter. At the same time, all police officers should take this incident as a lesson. Police officers who fired 35 rounds from three T-56 assault rifles were not spared.
