HYBRID SOLAR ECLIPSE TODAY.

It is reported that Professor Chandana Jayaratne, Director of the Astronomy and Space Science Unit of the University of Colombo, said that a solar eclipse will occur today (20th) and it will be called a hybrid solar eclipse.

That’s because it changes from a total solar eclipse to an annular eclipse within the same eclipse.

According to Sri Lanka standard time, the solar eclipse will begin today at 7.04 am in the Indian Ocean and end at 12.29 pm in the Pacific Ocean.

Mr. Chandana Jayaratne states that there are only two places on earth where the solar eclipse can be seen from the annular phase to the total phase and then again to the annular phase, but unfortunately these two places are located in the middle of the ocean.
