I WILL NOT TRUST THIS GOVERNMENT UNTIL I GET THE CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE – NUWAN BOPAGE

I salute all the brothers and sisters who have ignited the hope of building a Sri Lankan nation with the newspaper coverage of the case filed regarding the child’s birth certificate.

Based on my previous experience in this struggle, I will not trust this state until I get the child’s birth certificate.

Regarding the birth certificate of my eldest child, I submitted the application stating the race of the father as Sri Lankan or Human. After a great struggle, the assistant registrar left the place of the father’s race blank and gave me the birth certificate. Finally, I got the registrar to work. That he was banned.

I did not challenge it as I did not have a problem with the nation being left blank as I also reject communism and border divisions as a staunch internationalist.

But when I applied to register the birth certificate of the second child ‘Yukthika’, the father’s race was not only applied as human or Sri Lankan, but the column was left blank or the registrar refused. Accordingly, my remedy was to go to court.

The position taken on behalf of the government in the case is that according to the guidelines given to the registrar, only Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamil, Indian Tamil, Sri Lankan Marakkala, Indian Marakkala, and Burghers can exist in Sri Lanka and there is no such nation as Sri Lankan.

As Tagore said in his essay Nationalism in the Western World, “Race is not only the Indian society but a great danger to the entire human race” has been confirmed by the above guide. While the majority of Sinhalese people do not need a piece of Sri Lanka, dividing Tamils and Muslims into Sri Lankan and Indian identities. How backward is inferior division?

The reason why the tactic of dividing people and maintaining the political power of the crown during the colonial period was not changed after independence was because the Bandaranaikes, Rajapaksalas and Wickramasinghes also used racism and nationalism as a serious trump card to maintain the political power of their class. Racist politics in the north also gave their consent to it. The capitalist nation-state was not fully created by integrating all the people of Sri Lanka in the capitalism imposed by the colonialists.

Accordingly, the non-creation of the Sri Lankan nation has created the problem of the conditions of the liberation and free development of nations, i.e. the national problem.

Our generation is not facing a simple challenge like winning in elections. We have the challenge of defeating all kinds of cultural and economic backwardness such as racism, nationalism, masculinism and neoliberalism. We have to struggle together and individually.

Shouldn’t we defeat the political purpose of forcing the children of the same mother to be divided into different nations while the national anthem mentions the children of one mother as a forest? Can the state take away the right to apply as a Sri Lankan to anyone who wants it before the nation of the birth father or mother? Shouldn’t we create a permanent solution to the national problem by creating the Sri Lankan nation? These issues must be discussed in our generation.

Through that, our generation should not inherit the miserable wars and riots and forever defeat the base racist political practices we are experiencing today. We are burdened.

Finally, if the nation of people is ready to be decided by the state, or if a Sri Lankan nation is not accepted by the state, or if the state does not accept all the measures that can be taken on earth beyond judicial measures, I will join with all the humanist progressives against it.

On the other hand, the compassion I felt in the eyes of the people who came to me to sue to change their Tamil names at the end of the war and to change their Muslim names after the Easter attack, is to fight unconditionally against all racism, against national oppression and for the equal rights of those nations. Will motivate me until.

Let’s keep our hopes up and fight for the victory till the last moment ✊👍❤️
