IMPORT RESTRICTIONS ARE REMOVED AFTER MONITORING.

It is reported that the State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siambalapitiya said in a statement to the media that the removal of import restrictions will be done after a strict supervision to prevent another economic crisis.

The minister who commented further in this regard,

“We had to stop more than 3,000 HS Codes. We protected the reserves by stopping them. We increased the reserves which were zero to 3 ADOB. A country cannot ban imports for a long time. The country should be opened up gradually.  Now when we focus on a rich economy, to expand the country’s economy in a rich economy, the most important thing is to provide the necessary facilities for international trade. We will not do this at any time without complacency.  Decisions are made by looking at every aspect such as its need, its replacements, etc.”
