It is reported that the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mahinda Amaraweera, said that the highest rice yield in the season has been recorded from the fields belonging to the Udawalawe region.
The minister has also said that it is a special event that this year the highest rice yield has been recorded from the paddy fields of Udawalawa region, where the most crop damage was reported due to the long drought of the last yala season.
The minister has mentioned that the maximum yield can be obtained by using disk plows and moldboard plows in preparing the land for paddy cultivation.
The minister said this while addressing a press conference held today at the Presidential Media Unit.
