India has reportedly banned domestic military drone manufacturers from using Chinese-made devices in recent months over concerns about security vulnerabilities.
It is said that this step has been taken amid tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors and in a background where New Delhi is expected to use unmanned drones and other autonomous devices more.
India’s defense chiefs are concerned that the presence of Chinese-made components in the drones’ communication functions, cameras, radio transmissions and operational software could compromise intelligence gathering as domestically-made drones are expected to meet the military’s needs, Reuters reported.
