It is reported that Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that due to the change in the forecast, the electricity tariff will be revised again in January next year.
He also mentions that due to the production of electricity from hydroelectric power, it is possible to provide this relief to the people.
The minister who commented further,
“In the past years, we do not get rain like this at this time. But now, the amount of rain has increased continuously every day. Therefore, we have gained an advantage. We have been able to use hydroelectricity to the maximum extent. We have to stop the coal power plants, or the oil and diesel power plants we have. It is an advantage for us to have the ability. The next amendment was proposed in the month of April. But we have taken a decision from the government and since these forecasts have changed, we see an advantage and pass that advantage on to the customers. Accordingly, we hope that after the completion of our balance sheet on December 31 Do a tariff revision again in the middle of January. We can see that we can reduce the existing tariff system in the tariff revision. I am not in a hurry. The data and that information should be given to the electricity board and those people.”
