It is reported that journalist Tharindu Uduvaragedara has been arrested by the police.
It is said that he was arrested during a protest march organized by several parties including the Frontline Socialist Party.
He is currently detained at Borella Police
The police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protest march.
Tear gas and water attacks have been launched in Borella Sahaspura area and it is reported that this protest march was organized to protest against the existing problems in the health sector, the proposed labor laws and IMF proposals including the privatization of government institutions.
