The owner of Ralahami mine who did not get the share was abused and beaten up by the police.

He has threatened to kill his brother.

A video of a person who went to the Opanayake Police to lodge a complaint last night (13) was circulated on social media with footage of a police officer named ‘Kabaraya’ and two others verbally abusing and inhumanely assaulting him.

Sampath Asanka Bandara, a resident of Hunuwala Opanayake, who has been brutally assaulted, is a person engaged in the mining industry, and he comes to the police to lodge a complaint about a threat made to him.

At that time, instead of writing the complaint, he was brutally beaten in this video.

While investigating the reason for the assault on this person, it was learned that the person who was assaulted, Sampath Asanka Bandara, was engaged in the gem mining industry and that he did not give part of the money obtained from a gemstone found in that mine to the police officer and the group that was assaulted.

On further investigation, we came to know that this person named Sampath Asanka Bandara had given 5 lakh rupees from the money obtained from the gemstone to the station commander of Opanayake Police and the assault was carried out due to the fact that the station commander did not give the money to the attacked police officers.

And this video shows how this police officer declared in front of other police officers that he will kill this person.

We inquired about this from the DIG in charge of Ratnapura district and he stated that the police officer who was attacked has been arrested and that he will be produced in court tomorrow.

He also stated that they have taken measures to suspend the said police officer and that necessary measures are being taken to find the other police officers involved in the attack.
