LACK OF MEDICINES IN GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS.

It is reported that Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella stated that there is a shortage of 112 types of medicines used in government hospitals.

The Minister has stated this while making a statement in Parliament today (27).

Currently, 1,347 medicines are used in hospitals in Sri Lanka, of which there is a shortage of 150 types.

“The government spends 50 billion rupees annually, which is 13.6 million US dollars, to import medicines needed by Sri Lanka. In addition to this, considering the request of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Finance has allocated another 40 million as a 1% budget cut.
