LAHIRU THIRIMANNA BIDS FAREWELL TO THE FIELD.


It is reported that Sri Lankan cricketer Lahiru Thirimanna has announced his retirement from international cricket today (22) in a post on his official Facebook page.

He has represented Sri Lanka for 44 Test matches, 127 ODI matches and 26 T20 matches and has recorded 3 Test centuries, 10 Test fifties as well as 4 ODI centuries and 21 ODI fifties in his cricket career.

Lahiru Thirimanna is a strong member of the Sri Lankan team that won the title of the Asia Cup One Day Cricket Tournament in 2014 and the team that won the 2014 2020 World Cup.

In his farewell note, he mentioned,

  “As a player, I gave my best for my country. I tried my best. I respected the game. I have done my duty honestly and morally for my motherland. It was difficult for me to take this decision. But I cannot mention many reasons that influenced me to take this decision willingly or unwillingly.”
