Landslide warnings have been issued to several areas belonging to 05 districts due to the current weather conditions in the island.
Accordingly, among the areas where these warnings were issued, the districts of Niedumbara, Udunuwara, Ganga Ula Korale, Nihe Hewa Hata, Gahavata Korale, Harispatthu, Gumpane, Pujapitiya, Yatinuwara in Kandy district, Galigamuwa, Rambukkana, Mawanella, Bulathkohupitiya, Kegalle in Kegalle district, Aranayake, Ruwanwella, districts are also included.
These landslide warnings have also been issued to the areas of Ridhigama and Polgahawela in Kurunegala district, Ratthota, Matale, Yatawatta, Ukuwela, Naula, Nagarpallegama, Pallepola in Matale district and Kotmale area in Nuwara Eliya district.
Wasantha Senadheera, senior geologist of the National Building Research Institute, said that the notices have been issued under Phase 01 to be vigilant.
The announcement has further stated that if there is any risk to the people living around Kandi, they should go to safe places.
