It is reported that MP Channa Jayasumana has said that there is a plan to remove Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena from his position and re-appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa.
MP Channa Jayasumana is reported to have further mentioned that the members and friends of the ruling party requested support for that.
“There is a plan to change the position of the Prime Minister. Friends in the ruling party in the Parliament came to us with such a proposal.”
“That there is a program to remove Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena and re-appoint Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.”
“We don’t think changing the pillow will cure headaches. The government should go home. You cannot find answers to the country’s problems by changing the position of the prime minister.
“We do not support this effort. Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa should now retire from politics and stay at home in good health. If there is something he did for the country, it will be a reason to protect that reputation.”
