The Ministry of Agriculture has stated that a ship carrying 36,000 metric tons of mud fertilizer needed for the yala season is scheduled to arrive at the port of Colombo in March.
The Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera has stated that the government has decided to give the mud fertilizer received under the financial assistance of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to the farmers for free to use in paddy cultivation in the new season.
It is reported that the stock of mud fertilizer to be received from Egypt to Sri Lanka will be given to the farmer before the start of the yala season.
