Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena instructed the officials to complete the opening of bank accounts for the payment of social welfare benefits by this weekend and take immediate action for the payment of the benefits.
The Maharagama Divisional Coordination Committee meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister on 27.07.2023 at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat Auditorium and discussed the problems that have arisen regarding the settlement and the problems affecting the area.
It was also emphasized that bank accounts should be opened immediately for those who have not opened bank accounts for the payment of social welfare benefits.
The issue regarding the closed monks’ ward at Asthiya Hospital was also discussed and it was revealed that estimates are being prepared to completely repair it. The police were accused of increasing drug use and theft in the Maharagama area. The Prime Minister advised the police to find solutions to these issues together with public organizations. The officials also pointed out that the removal of the Japanese Jabara from Boralasgamuwa Lake is about 50 percent complete. The Prime Minister said that the work should be completed at the appointed time. Special attention was also given to the harvesting of fallow fields in the area.
