It is reported that Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake has stated that he will focus on the revision of the New Year auspicious rituals only if the National Auspicious Committee presents a proposal.
The Minister has said this during an inquiry regarding the controversial situation that has arisen regarding the application of the auspiciousness of burning the stove and the auspiciousness of eating food at midnight on April 13 in the New Year auspicious rituals.
The Minister pointed out that all the members of the National Astrology Committee are knowledgeable about Astrology, and if there was any problem in the Astrology rituals, they should have been discussed further at the time of preparation.
Without that, Vidura Wickramanayake has emphasized that it is absolutely unacceptable for certain committee members to later declare that there are defects in the relevant amulets.
Therefore, Minister Vidura Wickramanayake has said that if there is any problem in the auspicious rituals and they need to be revised again, a proposal should be submitted by the auspicious committee itself.
