President Ranil Wickramasinghe has given Mr. Wimal Weerawansa, who was politically helpless without a rope to hang himself, the general secretary of Janata Vimukti Peramuna Tilvin Silva says.
He says that MP Wimal Weerawansa has got this opportunity through the President’s efforts to bring to the fore a topic about the division of provincial council powers that will never be fulfilled.
It is stated that President Ranil Wickremesinghe will never implement the Provincial Council system in full and instead he has resorted to a strategic political practice to consolidate his power politically by creating a discussion about it in the society.
In a discussion with an internet channel, Tilvin Silva emphasized that his party’s focus is on a new power sharing program instead of the existing provincial council system.
