In view of the ongoing crisis in Sri Lanka, India received one billion US dollars in aid to this country last year and it is reported that the amount was given to purchase essential materials last March.
According to the Indian High Commissioner’s Office, 10 million dollars was spent on the printing of school textbooks and it was enough to print textbooks for 45% of the 40 lakh school students in this country.
They further report that they have been able to print nearly half of the total amount of text books required for this year.
