According to Article 104 of the Constitution, the former chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya, stated that even if there is a vacancy of a member of the Commission, the Commission has the power to act regardless.
A member of the Election Commission, P.S.M. Charles has resigned from her membership and her letter of resignation has been given to the President, reports the Presidential Media Division.
According to that, even though she has a vacancy, the Election Monitoring Organization stated that it does not hinder the election activities.
