It is reported that the Minister of State for Women and Children’s Affairs Mrs. Geetha Kumarasinghe stated in Parliament today (27) that sanitary napkins should be provided to all female children between the ages of 12 and 18.
The State Minister mentioned here that the government will hold discussions regarding the allocation of money in this regard.
The Minister of State has suggested that this program should be done through the Ministry of Education.
The Minister of State said this while replying to a question asked by Member of Parliament Hesha Withana.
Commenting on this, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that this program will be implemented from next year, giving priority to rural areas.
According to that, the Minister of Education has further stated that this program will be implemented by starting with 03 lakh school girls and gradually increasing the number in the future.
