It is reported that several sections of the Online Security Act or the Online Act are to be amended.
Accordingly, it is stated that 47 related amendments are to be submitted to the Council of Ministers which will be held today (12).
These amendments are scheduled to be presented by the Minister of Public Security Mr. Tiran Alas.
It is stated that steps have been taken to amend these clauses in view of the objections raised by various parties.
However, it is reported that these amendments will be adopted today.
Accordingly, after gazetting the amended bill, the first reading is scheduled to be presented in the coming parliamentary days.
Meanwhile, many sections of the Online Act were severely criticized by the opposition and other parties.
There were strong criticisms in this regard inside and outside the parliament and many members of the opposition, including the leader of the opposition, have expressed their views in the parliament regarding the manner in which the bill was passed.
