Speaker approves VAT amendment.

Yesterday (14th), Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena recorded his certificate for the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill.
On the 9th, the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Parliament with the majority of votes, where 82 votes were in favor and 41 votes were against for the third reading of the bill.
Accordingly, the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill was enacted from 14 December 2022 as the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act No. 44 of 2022.
