SRI LANKA WON THE FIRST MATCH.

Today (18) the Sri Lanka Test cricket team managed to record an innings and 280 runs victory in the first test match between Ireland and Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lankan team, who batted first in this match at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, scored 591 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the first innings.

Four centuries were recorded for the Sri Lankan team, captain Dimuth Karunaratne scored 179 runs, Kusal Mendis scored 140 runs, Dinesh Chandimal scored 102 not out and Sadira Samarawickrama scored 104 not out.

In reply, the Irish team scored only 143 runs for the first innings.

Spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya, who bowled superbly for Sri Lanka, took 07 wickets for 52 runs.

The Irish team came out to play the second innings shortly after tea on the third day (18) and scored only 168 runs.

Harry Tector was able to collect 42 points for Ireland.

While bowling for Sri Lanka in the second innings, Prabhat Jayasuriya took 03 wickets for 56 runs and Ramesh Mendis took 04 wickets for 76 runs.
