It is reported that the services of a group of electricity workers who protested against the restructuring of the Electricity Board have been suspended.
The Electricity Board says that 15 cash clerks were suspended for obstructing the payment of electricity bills by closing cash windows during the recent protest.
Recently, its trade unions had launched a protest campaign saying that the electricity board is going to be privatized.
Accordingly, Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera, the Minister of Electricity, had instructed the management of the Ceylon Electricity Board to suspend any employee who obstructs the services or acts in violation of the guidelines issued by the CEB management and take appropriate disciplinary measures.
