It is reported that the Mallakam Magistrate yesterday (19) ordered that the 22-year-old suspect be remanded for 14 days on the charge of raping an 18-year-old girl in Jaffna’s Jaffna Veli area by her 22-year-old elder brother and making her pregnant.
When this suspect went to the Jaffna Chhalweli hospital to destroy the young woman’s pregnancy, the doctors informed the police about the incident.
It is reported that the suspect was arrested by the hospital police and handed over to the Chhalweli police and the magistrate has ordered the 18-year-old girl to undergo a full medical examination and provide a court report.
