THE DOLPHINS THAT CAME TO BATTICALOA RETURNED TO THE SEA.


It is reported that 7 injured dolphins that came close to the shore of Kayakkeni sanctuary in Batticaloa and were unable to go into the deep sea were sent back to the sea.

The wildlife officers including Dr. Nihal Pushpakumara, Veterinary Officer of the Eastern Wildlife Health Management Unit, with the help of the navy and the fishing community, after giving medical treatment to the dolphins, they were sent back to the deep sea.

It is said that these dolphins are about seven feet long.

  The dolphins are believed to have been caught in a fishermen’s net and washed up close to the shore and the injured fishes were taken by navy and fishing boats and released into the deep sea after receiving anti-biotics.
