Nimal G., Chairman of the Election Commission. Mr. Punchihewa has stated that he sent a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament asking him to intervene in order to get the funds needed to hold the local government polls.
It is reported that he gave the letter to the Speaker yesterday (24) and this decision was taken in the Election Commission yesterday itself.
