The first batch of imported eggs to the island.

It was decided to import eggs to control the shortage of eggs and prices in the country and it is reported that the first stock of almost 2 million eggs imported from India by Sri Lanka State Commercial Corporation is to be imported to the island this weekend.

It is reported that the Minister of Agriculture informed that the imported eggs will be used only for bakery products and will not be allowed to be sold to consumers in the market.

It is also said that the special trade goods tax for the import of eggs has been revised.
