The Ataweeragolleva police say that the man was seriously injured and died after being taken to the hospital because the firing gun set up to save his maize and cowpea fields from wild animals went off.
Eddie Dasanayake (45) of Ranbanda, a father of two, residing at Palikgama, Aviragollawa, has died.
The police say that the deceased person has suffered serious gunshot wounds when he missed the gun that he planted to save the maize and cowpea plantations in his field from wild animals.
It is said that he later died after being admitted to Kabithigolleva Hospital by his neighbours.
