Gampola coroner Nalin A. said that a young man who had worked in Korea for many years came to Sri Lanka and was about to return to Korea when a tree fell on him and died at the same place. It is reported that it was discovered during an autopsy.
The deceased is a 30-year-old Mahesh Samaranayake of Samarakoon Mudiansela, a young businessman residing in Baladora, Gampola Bowala.
He is married and came to this country from Korea last March.
After coming to this country, he has bought some land and started a tree cutting business.
It is said that he has worked in a sawmill before going to Korea and has started the business of cutting trees.
Gampola Galpaya bought some trees in Lantonhill Colony and started cutting those trees with two others on the 10th of this month.
A seventy feet high tree was cut with ropes, but the tree fell to the ground at the same time and the people there ran in one direction but the deceased ran in the direction of the fall of the tree.
The trunk of that tree fell on his head while he was leaning on another trunk.
Hospital sources say that the injured person was taken to Gampola Hospital but he had already died.
He was about to return to Korea with his wife when he faced this unfortunate incident.
