In the meeting of party leaders held today (07), the “National Assembly” consisting of 37 members representing all parties in the Parliament has the consent.
A meeting of party leaders was held today (07) at the Parliament Complex to decide on the establishment of the “National Assembly” with the participation of all political party leaders in the Parliament to alleviate the economic and social crisis that has arisen in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
According to the agreement reached there, the Speaker holds the chair of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Leader of the House, and the Chief Organizer of the ruling party have become its members ex officio.
Accordingly, the total number of members including representatives who are ex-officio members is reported as 37, representing all the parties operating in the National Assembly and Parliament.
In today’s party leaders’ meeting, it has been agreed to submit the relevant proposal to the parliament immediately.
