The North is getting ready for racism again. Do the rulers of the country only want the votes of the north?

Even now the people of southern Sri Lanka are suffering. The northerners are doing their work very well. The reason for the ethnic war in this country was because the rulers of that time did not see the future by making the Sinhala language the national language. However, going away from the democratic system, the youth of the North took up arms against the South. At that time, the youth of the south took up arms against the rulers of the south.

A certain website has reported that the youths of the North, who did not take the damage caused by taking these weapons as a lesson, are doing something harmful to the national unity or to return to war.

According to the website,

Against the ongoing repression of Tamils by the Sinhala Buddhist state

A student organization in the north has declared “Independence Day” as a black day.

The Jaffna University General Students’ Union has invited all the parties who stand for the rights of the Tamil people to join the protest demonstrations in the North and Eastern Provinces on February 4.

The representatives of the students’ union who called local journalists to the Jaffna University said that since independence from the British imperialists, the rights of the Tamil people have been curtailed day by day.

Jaffna University student leaders also point out that due to the acquisition of their traditional lands by the government forces, the Tamils have to fight for it and the construction of military camps and the settlement of Sinhala Buddhists in the acquired lands.

Although 14 years have passed since the end of the war, the relatives of the Jaffna University students are still fighting because of the lack of justice for those who were forcibly taken and disappeared by the government forces. Defending the Utus further shows the repression against the Tamils.

“The Sinhala-Buddhist State, which promises many promises, has become a daily task of the government’s security forces, deceiving the Tamil people and the international community, illegally arresting Tamil activists who stand for democratic rights, and intimidation.”

The northern university leaders say that the reality faced by the Tamil people today should be shown before the international community, calling the “Independence Day” of the Sinhala-Buddhist state a black day for the Tamil people who are under such pressure.
