THE SRI LANKAN RUGBY TEAM IS ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN THE ASIAN GAMES.

It is reported that the Rugby Federation has taken steps to allow the Sri Lankan Rugby team to compete in the upcoming Asian Games after a discussion with the Sri Lankan Rugby Administrators including the Government of Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Sports, and the National Olympic Committee.

The International Rugby Federation has informed the National Olympic Committees that the Sri Lankan Rugby team is allowed to compete under the Sri Lankan Olympic flag or the Olympic Council of Asia flag for the Asian Games, and that the players should not be compensated due to administrative problems.  It has been mentioned in a letter to Chairman Suresh Subramaniam.

But it is reported that the Asian and international rugby ban imposed on Sri Lankan rugby is still in effect.
