THE START OF A WAVE OF STRIKES. HOSPITALS THEMSELVES START TAPPING PEOPLE’S STOMACHS

.

Today (09) junior employees of hospitals in Sri Lanka have reported sick leave. Therefore, the work of many hospitals has been hampered.

The people who pay taxes to the public servants, while they were suffering from stomach fire, they demanded a salary commensurate with the cost of living of these servants. They also demanded to stop increasing interest on bank loans and hiring for multi-purpose services. Several hospitals such as Ridgeway Arya Children’s Hospital, Maharagama Anticipation Hospital etc. are not on strike. But it is reported that there have been breakdowns in several services, including the emergency services of the Colombo National Hospital.

This could be the beginning of a wave of agitation by civil servants. The entire civil service has this problem. Also, if public servants continue to take to the streets demanding salary increases, there is a high possibility that the common people will also stand up against them.
