It is reported that the first parliamentary meeting of the new year will be held tomorrow (09).
The Department of Communication of the Parliament said that it was decided in the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, which was chaired by the Speaker, that the Parliament will meet from tomorrow to the 12th.
Accordingly, it is stated that tomorrow the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation Bill, the National Hydrology Bill and the orders mentioned in the Gazette No. 2355/30 under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act will be debated.
The Department of Communications of the Parliament mentioned that the adjourned debate held on November 8, 2023 regarding the second reading of the Insulting a Court, Judicial Authority or Institution Bill is scheduled to be held on the second day on January 10.
The motion to adjourn the House to be presented by the opposition is scheduled to be debated on Thursday 11th of January, and Friday 12th has been set aside for the submission of private members’ proposals.
