The people of the Electricity Board took three billion rupees as bonuses and distributed them to the people of the Ministry.

Jamuni Kamanta Thushara, President of Citizen Power Organization Against Bribery, Corruption and Waste, says that it has been decided to pay more than two crore rupees to the Electricity Board for the 75th Independence Day commemoration ceremony held in the afternoon.

He had recently worked to get the cost estimate for the 75th Independence Day in Sri Lanka through the Freedom of Information Act and due to this a controversial discussion was created in the society regarding the expenses of the Independence Day.

In a discussion with an internet channel, Mr. Kamanta Thushara has mentioned that many serious problems have been created regarding the expenses of the Independence Festival.

He points out that allocating 21 million rupees to the Ceylon Electricity Board and spending more than 142 lakh rupees for mobile toilets in connection with the Independence Day celebration in the afternoon have all led to many serious problems.

He has mentioned here that it has been revealed through the Auditor General’s report that Ceylon Electricity Board employees, who are showing neediness to the people of the country, have set aside 3 billion rupees for their bonuses and shared them among the ministry employees.
