It is reported that Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the approval of the Legislative Council for the existing vacancies in the Election Commission has been postponed and the Legislative Council will meet again on the 22nd of this month to take a decision in this regard.
The Legislative Assembly met yesterday (02) where approval was to be given for the appointment of the two vacant members of the Election Commission and the vacant member of the Police Commission, but yesterday (02) no recommendations were made for the respective appointments.
