With the activation of Southwest Monsoon, wind speeds are reported to be increasing offshore from Hambantota to Pothuvil and from Puttalam to Mannar and Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee.
The meteorological department has stated that it may increase to 60-70 km per hour.
Also, the Meteorological Department has further stated that the wind speed may increase to 50-60 kilometers per hour in the offshore areas from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
