WOMEN’S MILITARY SERVICE WILL BE EXTENDED.

It is reported that Minister of State for Defense Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon said in Parliament yesterday (07) that the age limit for women to serve in the armed forces will be increased from forty-five to fifty-five years.

The minister has said that the highest position that a woman soldier in the army can get is the rank of major, but after changing the service period, a major general can be expected.
