Heavy rain in several areas today.

The Meteorological Department said that Uva, Eastern, Northern and North-Central provinces are likely to experience thundershowers in the evening.
Meanwhile, in Uva, Eastern, Northern and North-Central Provinces, there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in the evening or at night, and heavy rains of more than 75 mm may occur in some parts of the island.
Also, the department states that there will be several rainy seasons in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
In particular, the department requested the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
