A complaint has been lodged with the Mirihana Police Fraud Investigation Division under SCIB (3) 296/14 dated 03.09.2018 against the officers of the Fraud Investigation Division of the Mirihana Police stating that it has not been properly investigated so far. The complainant is KJK Alwis, a resident of 644, 6th Lane, Thunandahena, Korathota, Kaduwela.
According to the complaint, 3.5 acres of his land had been forcibly taken over by Batapola Hewage Laksiri de Nissanka de Silva, a resident of No. 410/92 / A, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07. He then sold the land to Home Land at Pannipitiya Road, Battaramulla. According to the original complaint, the company was destroying all his cultivated land using JCB machines and constructing six of them. The relevant information was reported to the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court in the same year as B / 19367/18. However, it is said that no statement has been obtained from the suspect lawyer or the person who is accused of preparing fraudulent documents. It is also stated that the documents obtained from him have not been sent to the Government Analyst for 2 years.
The officers responsible for this incident have been named as Prasad and Dissanayake and are mentioned as 077 6053528 and 0778436800. It is also stated that the officers have obtained signatures from the complainant in various ways. It is also stated that they will be obtained and sent to the Government Analyst. Although the signatures were obtained on 16.09.2018, they have not been sent to the Government Analyst.
The complainant has lodged a complaint with the Kaduwela Magistrate, the Inspector General of Police and the Mirihana Fraud Investigation Unit. He also states that no letter has been received in response to the complaint filed 2021-07-30.
Mr. IGP, it is the responsibility of those officers to ascertain the truth or falsity of the complaint under SCIB (3) 296/14. Have they done their duty properly, or not? We are waiting for you to look into this and take appropriate action as you are the competent authority to investigate and punish them.
Editor’s note.
If the police officers have not actually done this then action should be taken against them at the institutional level. Moreover, due to such misconduct of law and order police officers, the Sri Lankan community is looking at the police officers with contempt. The judiciary is also being looked down upon, and we have seen plenty of police officers misleading the magistrates by presenting various facts. Details of such a special case are yet to be revealed.
Such matters also have a serious effect on the disrepute of the police. If the deed is forged, legal action should be taken against the lawyer as well. Otherwise the children born tomorrow will inherit a barbaric land. The police should also prosecute these officers under the provisions of Sections 112, 162,216,214,215,330 and 338 of the Ceylon Penal Code for dereliction of duty. In addition, you can work under the Police Code. Without it, no IGP will be able to create a people-friendly police force that is made up of officers who never do wrong.
