According to the Epidemiology Unit, 15,874 dengue patients have been reported so far this year.
The highest percentage of such patients was reported from the Western Province at 47.4%.
Also, 31,162 dengue patients were reported from Sri Lanka last year.
The Epidemiology Unit says that mosquito breeding grounds around houses should be kept clean as the spread of dengue is likely to increase due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions in the country.
