Fishermen in the Northern Province today (Jan. 17) staged a protest demanding an end to the fishing by Indian fishermen encroaching on Sri Lankan waters.
The protest was organized to demand an immediate end to the fishing activities of Indian fishermen and their immediate response to the attacks on Sri Lankan fishermen and damage to nets.
Today’s protest is being carried out by fishermen in the North using about 100 boats from Mullaitivu to Point Pedro.
