ONE COUNTRY IS THE TASK FORCE FOR ONE LAW

The President has appointed a Presidential Task Force as a first step to implement another of the President’s goals, One Country and One Law, and has issued the relevant gazette notification.

Accordingly, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero has been appointed as its Chairman and Mrs. Jeewanthi Senanayake, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President has been appointed as its Secretary.

The other members are Prof. Dayananda Banda, Prof. Shanthinanda Wijesinghe, Prof. Sumedha Siriwardena, NG Sujith Panditharatne, Attorney-at-Law Iresh Seneviratne, Attorney-at-Law Sanjaya Marambe, Eranda Navaratne, Pani Wewala, Moulav Mohamed, Lecturer Nishas Mohamed Inna. Messrs.

Accordingly, the task force is tasked with studying and drafting bills for the implementation of one country and one law in Sri Lanka.

It is also their responsibility to study the drafts and amendments prepared by the Ministry of Justice in this regard and to make proposals for their suitability and appropriate amendments and to include them in the relevant draft as appropriate.

The gazette notification further states that these committees should submit a report to the President once every month and that the final report would be submitted on or before February 28 next year.
