Pro-LTTE activist Subhashkaran has been accorded a warm welcome in the country

Subhashkaran Aliraja, the owner of Laika Mobile, a well-known businessman, has arrived in the country from the special guest terminal at the Katunayake Airport.

He has been rejected by many countries around the world on charges of money laundering and has been banned from entering those countries.

He has also been accused of using terrorist funds to deny business opportunities in those countries.

At a time when many countries in the world have registered him as ill-fated, his previous company Laika Mobile was allowed to do business in Sri Lanka by the previous government and accordingly he has acquired a network of media institutions owned by a bankrupt company in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, it has been reported that he has come to the island to buy the remaining group of companies owned by the aforesaid bankrupt company.

Subhashkaran Aliraja was born and raised in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, where he started a business to provide telephone facilities for expatriate Sri Lankans to call their home country, and later grew into a large – scale business called Laika Mobile.

Due to some of his cunning activities, his name has been badly documented in many countries and it is reported that he has close links with the LTTE sympathizers and has also provided funds to the terrorists during the LTTE activities in the country.
