A large number of plantations in Meepilimana, Magoda, Elkplains and Blackpool areas in the Nuwara Eliya Divisional Secretariat Division have been inundated due to the heavy rains that fell today.
Farmers have complained that the canals and culverts that drain the water have not been properly maintained due to the rains.
It has also been reported that water has flowed into the houses near the plantations due to this.
It is a pity that even the farming activities which are carried out without much effort without fertilizers and pesticides are being washed away by the rains.
