RANJAN RELEASED AFTER CHALLENGING COURT A PROCESSION TO THE GALLE FACE GREEN

Ranjan Ramanayake is a former Sri Lankan minister jailed for criticizing the judiciary.

The new government under the new Prime Minister is focusing on releasing Ranjan Ramanayake, who was imprisoned for criticizing the judiciary and speaking the truth in a manner accepted by the society, for not abusing his parliamentary privileges.

Reliable sources told us that his release would be delayed by a few more days due to lack of time to focus on his release tomorrow in view of the Vesak Poya day.
Many others hope to take him in a procession to the battlefield at Galle Face Green upon his release.
The imprisonment of Ranjan Ramanayake was another major reason why the government led by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was deeply displeased.

Although the people did not approve of it, his statements were a direct insult to the judiciary and are illegal under Sri Lankan law. But as a Member of Parliament, he had to speak out in Parliament about the wrongdoings he had uttered in the courts. He was also able to speak out in Parliament about all those wrongdoings, conduct an inquiry and do a lot for the people. He became guilty of not having the proper understanding as well as the proper knowledge of what to do as well as what not to do and how to do what should be done properly.

However, Ranjan should be released and his message to the society about the judiciary should be such that if there are any wrongdoings in the courts, the government, the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service Commission should set up a mechanism to protect the dignity of the judiciary by correcting them and preventing them from happening again. Otherwise, the dignity of the judiciary will continue to be damaged. It as a country will continue to decline further.
