A letter signed by National Trade Union President KD Lalkantha has been submitted to the President requesting an increase in the salaries of employees by at least Rs. 10,000 in view of the rising cost of living.
They point out that working people in all sectors, state, semi-state, estate and private, have been promised an increase in wages to live on in the face of rising costs of living for about two years now, but this has not yet happened.
Despite making such promises during the election and getting the votes of the people, all that has been forgotten.
In this article, they have stated that there is strong opposition as well as displeasure to the government by allowing the prices of essential commodities to rise rapidly without any control.
