A group of teachers and parents have staged a protest in front of the Mawanella Police today (07) against the arrest of the Deputy Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha KG Piyatissa.
The agitation has been triggered by the non-implementation of the law regarding the teacher-principal salary anomaly issue at Mawanella Mederigama Maha Vidyalaya on the 3rd when a group of parents and teachers staged a protest at the school level regarding the issue.
Mawanella Mederigama Maha Vidyalaya was raided along with several other Pradeshiya Sabha members and Deputy Chairman KG Piyatissa threatened the teachers and chased away the protesting parents.
Although several days have passed since the incident, parents and teachers have surrounded the Mawanella Police today to protest against the failure to take appropriate action.
